Mrs. Stamp's Behavior Plan
The clip chart consists of a chart that has been divided into levels. All of the children start the day on Great Job which means they come to school ready to learn. Then, during the course of the day, the children move their candy clips up or down the chart, based on the behavioral choices they make. If they are making good choices, they can move their clothespin up a level. Inappropriate behavior would cause them to move down a level. The children realize that they have to have self-control and be responsible for their actions and behavior if they want to be recognized for making good choices. Making it to the top of the chart is not easy, but it is definitely attainable. The top of the chart is Terrific Day. I do not move a child to this level unless they have showed outstanding behavior all day long. This is a big deal and is not taken lightly. This level is celebrated in the classroom, as well as at home! The lower levels, Think About it and Parent Contact are reached when the student has to be told more than once to make better choices and follow procedures. Depending on the behavior, in school actions will be taken. If a student is on Think About It, this level is considered the warning area. The teacher may jot a quick note in the take home folder just to let parents know that warnings have been issued and the student needs to slow down. If the student has reached Parent Contact, the student may have to sit out of in-school activities such as free-play or they may have silent lunch. This level also insures that the parent will be contacted either by email, note, or phone. The children quickly realize how they must conduct themselves in order to stay on the positive side of the clip chart.
